Tips for designing your own home:
Face north - Your new home should be positioned as close as possible to facing north for natural light and heat.
Maximising space - Positioning your house correctly on your section is also important to maximise the space you have for outdoor living and privacy.
Liveability – This is one of the most important aspects of designing your new home. This means really thinking about what your needs are and how to layout your floor space. For example, don't add a feature that you think might look good, but in the long run, is simply impractical.
Styling- Take a drive around your local area and take photos of features you like such as roof pitches and styles, window types and cladding choices. This can really help with visualising your new home.
Location - If you haven’t decided on a location for your new home, take your day to day life into consideration. This may include distance to your workplace, local schools and shops, nightlife and social activities. These factors are just as important as the house itself.
